It's All About ME!

A big part of the art curriculum is working with imagery and learning how to illustrate our thoughts.  The 3rd graders just completed a challenging lesson on "self portraits" and learning about proportion and placement of the features of the human face. After the portrait was complete, they were asked to consider, "What makes you, YOU?"  What food do you like? What books do you read? What sports do you play? What's you favorite color? What are your hobbies? The task was to figure out how to represent their ideas with imagery.
To top off the class, each 3rd grade teacher played the game of guessing who was who in each portrait. They did great! Not a surprise because they love their kids! Enjoy these samples from all four 3rd grade classes.
