A chronicle of learning in the art room at Kitty Hawk Elementary School. This blog is updated at least once a week with pictures of student work, steps for art projects and information about what we are learning about.
Fridays in art class, students will be participating in Art Enrichment activities such as a Photography Scavenger Hunt. This a hunt for art related vocabulary. Students work in pairs as they hunt for items on a checklist. Then they report back to me to show me what they found. This activity is great for getting the kids to use art vocabulary and making art more relevant to their world. Here are some Elements of Art found today by students from Mr. Shope's 4th graders and Mrs. Davis's 5th graders.
Hello from the Art Room! Welcome back to school for another year of creativity. This year is going to be great fun! Be sure to check in often to this blog to see samples of student art work and to find out about what we are learning in art class. This week has been all about reviewing the art class expectations and getting comfortable in the art room. All students created a "Back to School Selfie" as well. These are hanging on the bulletin boards in the hallway by the library. Be sure to check them out and try to figure who's who. Next week we will start talking about "line" the most basic, important Element of Art. Stay tuned. I'll post samples of our line art from several classes.
