Youth Art Month Comes to a Close with the Renaissance

What a month!  We traveled through the Stone Age with cave art, explored the desert of Ancient Egypt, enjoyed the timeless art of ancient Greece and ended the month with the Renaissance.

The 3rd graders learned about Michaelangelo and his paintings on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.  Many of the third graders just finished reading a book called Tiger Rising and made a connection to a character in the book named "Sistine".

To grasp an understanding of the challenge Michaelangelo faced as he painted the Sistine Chapel ceiling for 4 years, my 3rd graders were presented with the challenge of creating a drawing underneath their tables....

They all agreed, it was a pain in the neck.

Our Time Travel Continues

This week marks the second week of Youth Art Month hear at Kitty Hawk Elementary School.  Some of our students are stopping off in Ancient Egypt and some of our students are checking out Ancient Greece.  This week I will spotlight some beautiful 3rd Grade chalk pastel Egyptian Desert landscapes from the classes of Childress and Bender.  Enjoy this nice warm blast of desert air...

YAM Jam!!

Wow! That's the only word I can use to describe my week at school.  Kitty Hawk Elementary School had a very successful Youth Art Month Kick off with our parents in art classes.  There were at least 4-15 parents in every class this week!  I am happily exhausted so, for now I will let my pictures do the talking.  I love my kids, I love my kids' parents and I love my school. And I love the Cave Art we did this week!
